U12 Dragons v U11 Basingstoke Town

To finish off out season we played one last game before a well deserved break, and it was a great game to finish off on.

With many players being given opportunities in positions that were not their usual positions it showed that we have some versatility within the squad and options to be able to change a game and make a difference.

Well done to Ben on his debut as a Dragon taking into the game the attributes that we have worked on in training since he came on board.

With a goals from Kian, Charlie in the first half the team took control early before the opposition started to come back into the game before half time given them a 3-2 lead. However after the break the team regained composure with Kian and Charlie adding to their tally from the first half and Freddie Ward adding one and being unlucky not to get a second we finished the game 5-4, we could of scored a couple more but on the night we were unlucky, however the movement and creative spark was there for the opportunities to be created.

Well done to Fred B on an assist for Charlie’s goal, Roman and Owen for keeping it solid at the back, Brandon for causing havoc with his pace breaking out from the back, Ashdon for providing cover as a wingback, Sam for providing opportunities on the right and creating space, Oliver for continuing to press players and looking to win the ball back and not forgetting Finley who didn’t stop knocking on the door for a goal and with a great first time finish attempt from a pass from Freddie he was unlucky not to score himself.

After a game like that it reminds me of two things, firstly how good you could really be if you believed in yourselves and also how frustrating you can be when you don’t play like that. Hopefully this result against a strong JPL side will give you the confidence and strong base to build on for next season.
