I hope you are all keeping well during these continuing difficult times.I would like to start off by saying that if any of you are struggling with anything please don’t feel you are alone if we can help we will.
The committee have been working very hard behind the scenes and have been communicating during lock down, by reading further you will be able to see what has been achieved so far and what we aim to do moving forward. As a club we fully understand the frustrations and difficulties with training at the moment, but we have to work within the guidelines set out by the FA. I would ask you all to be patient with your coaches as they are working very hard putting on training sessions for the players, as you know training is very restrictive at the moment and probably suits the younger age groups rather than the older ones.
We also fully understand the frustrations of not being able to have both the tournament and the presentation day this summer, especially as some teams have players leaving, but please rest assured we will be handing out the trophies as soon as it is safe to do so within the guidelines. We also hope to be back supporting Carfest next summer. The AGM will be taking place but will have to be online, please look out for the date and time, we will be keeping you fully updated as things move forward.
Social-distanced Summer Training
As you may be aware, the Government has reduced the lockdown to allow small groups of players to return to social distanced training. The FA has provided some guidance on this, but the limitations to training and the required risk assessments makes this extremely difficult to progress. Some of our coaches are going to try and start training this way soon. Your coach will be in touch if social distanced training is planned for your team.
Pitch Preparation Fund
I am pleased to confirm that we applied for and were awarded a £5k grant from the Football Association to improve the pitches at Water End. The Football Association are the Premier League, The FA and Governments charity that helps communities improve their local football facilities through football grants. We are one of 2,196 grassroots clubs to be awarded the grant. This money will be used solely to improve the quality of our pitches and the works will be completed in time for the start of the 2020/21 season. Further details about the grant can be found here. We intend to take pictures and share this project with you on our website during the summer.
New Goal Posts
We have also applied for and been awarded a grant from the Football Association to improve the goal posts at Water End. We have ordered 4 x pairs mini soccer goals, a pair of 9v9 goals and a pair of 11v11 goals. All these goals are high quality aluminium and are wheeled so can be moved around Water End easily. The Football Association has covered 75% of the cost of the goals and the club will use its savings to pay for the remainder. The RRP value of these goals is around £13k, this is a significant investment in equipment that, if looked after, will last the club for many years to come. The goals will be delivered and ready for use at the start of the 2020/21 season. We would appreciate if parents can help coaches to get out and re-store the goals whenever required. It is fantastic that our club has been shown such high level of support from the Football Foundation and its partners! This investment will improve the experience of football at our club not only for our players but also those of teams that visit.
Due to the pandemic, the Colts Café will now move to contactless card payments only. We need to ensure that the volunteers and customers are kept as safe as we possibly can. When it reopens there will also be a social distanced queuing system etc, like those you may have experienced in the shops now.
The club website is going through a revamp, we want to make this more attractive and intuitive. You should see some improvements over the coming months. For those that did not realise, we publish fixture and pitch information on here each week. You will also be able to keep track of our improvement projects.
Around half of our teams will be getting new kit next season. The Committee made the decision at the last AGM to try and supply a tracksuit or hoodie with the Colts Home kit, we hope to continue this, and sponsorship can help to make this possible. We think the cost to sponsor a team is good value at £350 for two seasons, this includes your company logo on all the teams playing kit. It’s a great way to advertise your company in the local community and help the club to keep improving. If you are interested in sponsorship packages, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
